On Monday, I visited Laurel Park Elementary. There were two exciting events happening-the Pre-K and ECS End of Year Celebration and the 5th grade Moving Up Carpool Ceremony. On Tuesday, I attended the Salem Elementary 5th grade Carpool Promotion Ceremony. Congratulations to all the 5th graders! On Wednesday, I visited Weatherstone Elementary. The third day of Camp WCPSS was underway. It was great to see all the students and staff. On Thursday, I attended the Raleigh Chamber Partners Forum. To access the agenda of the forum, click  here . This week as a Board, we had no meetings. On Sunday, I hosted a D9 Connection Meeting. On Thursday, I had a meeting with Karen Wade, Policy Advisor at NC DHHS, and Walker Wilson, Assistant Secretary for Policy at NC DHHS, to share feedback and concerns I have received regarding masks and to ask NC DHHS about the planning for the upcoming school year. Later on Thursday, I attended the Salem Middle School 8th Grade Celebration Parade. It was exciting to cheer on the students with such a marvelous group of staff. Music, pom-poms, smiles, waves, and cars with a bubble machine, balloons, and artwork made for a great evening. Congrats 8th graders! This week as a Board, we had three meetings: Finance Committee, Work Session, and Board Meeting. At the Tuesday, June 15th Finance Committee: David Neter, Chief Business Officer, presented information about our current recruitment of bus drivers, vacancies, and a proposed sign-on bonus for bus drivers. The bonus would be payable in two parts: $400 after the first three months of employment

What a fabulous week focused on celebrating students and their accomplishments! On Monday, I had the honor of attending the Project SEARCH graduation ceremony. On Tuesday, I attended the Score Academy graduation ceremonies. If you would like to watch the recordings of the Score Academy graduations, the 4 pm ceremony can be accessed here . The 6 pm ceremony can be viewed using this link . On Wednesday, I was able to visit Davis Drive Middle and cheer on the 8th graders as they wrapped up middle school. On Thursday, I had the pleasure of attending the morning session of individual graduation ceremonies at Mary E. Phillips High School. On Wednesday, I hosted a D9 Connection Virtual Meeting. On Thursday, I attend the Community in Schools (CIS) of Wake County's virtual event: C.L.A.S.S. (Celebrate Leaders Achieving Significant Success). It was a moving event to celebrate the graduating seniors and the life-changing work that CIS is carrying out. Later on Thursday, I watched the Davis Drive Middle School's Spring Dance Show , which also included a Tribute to 8th graders and the  NHSDA (National Honor Society for Dance Arts) Induction Ceremony. The students and Mrs. Winans did a phenomenal job! On Friday, I enjoyed the TRI-8 Wrestling Tournament at Cary High. Congratulations to all the athletes who competed. I also attended the  United Arts Council's Annual Writers Share featuring Wake County students and teaching artists. The students' pieces of work were outstanding.
