On Sunday, I hosted a D9 Connection Meeting. On Tuesday, I visited Adams Elementary and volunteered in their Pre-K class. It was wonderful to spend time with such awesome students and amazing staff. As many of us gather with family and friends this week to celebrate Thanksgiving, I wish you all a Happy Thanksgiving! I am thankful that I have the opportunity to serve the citizens of Wake County. I am thankful for all the input families, students, staff, and others share with me. I am thankful for the opportunity to volunteer in our schools and attend a wide variety of events to support our students. I am thankful for our school staff's willingness to step up and do what is needed to provide our students the supports and services they need. I am thankful for parents and other community members' willingness to volunteer their time and resources to help support our students and schools. On Wednesday, I visited Davis Drive Elementary. It was fantastic to see students creating a wide variety of artwork, students bucket drumming, and students choosing different activities such as building, fine motor activities, and more. I enjoyed learning about what they were exploring and helping with carpool. On Thursday, I hosted the District 9 Board Advisory Council Meeting. Please see below for more details. On Friday, I attended the first IMProv Show in almost two years at Cary High School. What a fun night. The Jorts, Placeholders, Biohazards, and Big Boats and Little Lads were hysterical! Well done students.  This week as a Board, we had four meetings: Finance Committee, Work Session, Board Meeting and Safety and Security Committee. On Monday, I visited Weatherstone Elementary and volunteered in a terrific third grade classroom. Monday evening, I hosted a D9 Connection Meeting. On Wednesday, I visited Kingswood Elementary and provided assistance in two fabulous first grade classes. On Thursday, I attended Green Hope Theatre Company's outstanding performance of Puffs. A huge shoutout to the cast, crew, director-Mr. Comperatore, and parent volunteers! I will be wrapping up my week with multiple events on Saturday. On Saturday morning, I will be volunteering at two beautification events- one at Laurel Park Elementary and one at Green Hope Elementary. Later on Saturday, I will be attending the East Cary Middle School's performance of All Together Now. This week as a Board, we had no meetings. On Wednesday, I visited Salem Elementary and provided assistance during carpool at dismissal. On Thursday, I attended the Wake County State of the County Address. You can watch the recording of the State of the County at  this link . This week as a Board, we had two meetings: Work Session and Board Meeting. At the Tuesday, November 2nd Work Session: Paul Koh, Assistant Superintendent for Student Support Services, shared the history and status of the School Mental Health Improvement Plan. Paul Koh and Dr. Muttillo, Assistant Superintendent for Human Resources, provided an update on the voluntary COVID testing program and the federal mandates regarding staff testing and vaccination status. The Memorandum of Agreement with MAKO Medical will be presented for Board approval on November 16th. I did ask if a pool is positive, do students have the option to have their follow-up tests completed at a facility of their choice. District staff is checking on t
