On Thursday, I attended the Cary Chamber of Commerce's Leadership Dinner. On Friday, I enjoyed UNC Health's Annual Stuff the Bus School Supply Drive.

This week as a Board, we had one meeting: Facilities Committee.

At the Wednesday, August 10th Facilities Committee Meeting:

  • Shane Webster, Senior Facility Planner; Alice Reese, Senior Site Planner; and Elizabeth Sharpe, Director, Facilities Design and Construction; presented the schematic design of Bowling Road Elementary School. To view the presentation, click here.

  • Shane Webster, Alice Reese, and Elizabeth Sharpe, presented the schematic design of Pleasant Plains Elementary School. Use this link to view the presentation.

  • Douglas Congdon, Program Executive, Facilities Design & Construction; provided an overview of the impact of the current market volatility (longer time to get some materials, specialized labor is harder to find, and more) is having on project schedules.

  • Dr. Martin, Chair of Facilities Committee, led a discussion on possible new business. Several areas were mentioned. Touring some schools with County Commissioners is supposed to be happening. Date to be determined. I voiced my concern about all three schools being magnet schools and in Raleigh. I believe we need to also tour a non-magnet school.
