Later in the week, I recorded a bed time story for Turner Creek Elementary students and participated in the African-American Read-In at Apex Elementary School. Thank you to both schools for including me in these fun events.

This week, some important information was shared. The Board was informed that Stough Elementary School was operating on a two-cohort model versus the Board-approved Plan B three-cohort model for their 4th and 5th grade students (and Prek-3 when they were operating on Plan B in the fall). Please be aware that the Board was not involved in the Stough decision. I found out this was happening from Keung Hui's Twitter feed. On the evening of February 23rd, staff notified the Board.

Additionally, the US Department of Education released guidance to states on assessing student learning during the pandemic. The press release can be accessed here.

Next week, we have the following meetings as a Board (Please remember these meetings will be live on the WCPSS YouTube Channel.):
  • Tuesday, March 2nd at 3:30 pm-Work Session. The agenda can be viewed at this link. Some of the items covered will be: capping recommendations, kindergarten entry, vaccination updates, and 2021-2022 instructional calendars for Knightdale High School and the WCPSS Early Colleges.

  • Tuesday, March 2nd at 5:30-Board Meeting. The agenda can be viewed here.
