On Wednesday, I started my day at the Cary Chamber of Commerce's Eye Opener Breakfast with guest speaker Superintendent Catherine Truitt. Several items were discussed from funding to Operation Polaris to expanding postsecondary opportunities for students. Visit this link to learn more about Operation Polaris. Later on Wednesday, I attended the virtual NC DHHS Fireside Chat with Dr. Cohen, Joshua Cureton, Harley Powell, and Ive Jones. The Delta Variant and vaccines were discussed. To watch the recording, click here. After the fireside chat, I attended the disAbility Resource Center for the 31st Anniversary of the ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) virtual event: Unspeakable The Story of Junius Wilson. Co-author Dr. Susan Burch led the discussion and provided detailed information about Mr. Wilson's life. To learn more about Junius Wilson, visit this link. On Thursday, I enjoyed visiting the Governor Morehead School (GMS) to celebrate the school, students, and all they do. Click here to find out more about GMS. Throughout this week, I received input from community members, educators, school staff, parents, pediatricians, speech-language pathologists, nurses, and more.
