What a fabulous week! On Tuesday, I visited Green Hope High and Davis Drive Elementary. Summer Academy and Camp WCPSS were underway with a variety of activities- building towers, hula hoops and basketball in the gym, GradPoint, recess, and more. On Wednesday, I was at Cary High School. The Summer IMPStitute Camp and Online Credit Recovery was in progress. Students were making pasta (Yummy!), had played Kahoot, and were preparing for a dissection activity in science. On Friday, I visited Farmington Woods Elementary. The third week of Camp WCPSS was wrapping up. Students were learning about -ip with song and movement, expressing their joy about seeing their principal, and exploring outside on the playground.

A HUGE shoutout to all the staff working to keep students engaged during the Summer Learning Programs.

This week as a Board, we had no meetings.

Next week as a Board, we have the following meeting (Please remember this meeting will be streamed live on the WCPSS YouTube Channel.):

  • Wednesday, July 14th at 3 pm- Facilities Committee. At the time of this blog entry, there was no agenda posted. When it is posted, you can access it here
If you would like to attend the committee meeting, there is no sign-up form required.

There's an exciting update to the speaker form for Board Meetings. I've been asking about increasing accessibility particularly for those who may need an interpreter for their speech. This week I was informed that District staff has agreed to provide a link to a speaker sign-up form in Spanish and have a line asking if they will need an interpreter. This change will take place in time for our next Board Meeting on July 20th.

I will be hosting a D9 Connection Meeting on Sunday, July 11th at 4 pm. If you have a student in a D9 school, live in D9, or work in a D9 school, please join us using this Google Meet Link.

There will be another D9 Connection Meeting on Monday, July 19th at 7:30 pm.

If you have any questions or comments, please email me at kcarter3@wcpss.net.
