The calendars were approved by the Board 8-0. To access the calendars, click on the following schools to view their approval calendars: KHS, NWCCA, VMCCA, WECHS, and WECIB*, Wake STEM Early College , and Wake Leadership Academies. *Please note that the opening of Wake Early College of Information and Biotechnologies (WECIB) on an Early College calendar is contingent upon The General Assembly approval. If not approved, it may have to revert to a Traditional calendar.

  • Based on a request to have more direction provided to the State Board of Elections regarding the Board's method of election, the Board was presented with an updated resolution to provide specific ways to have the Board return to staggered, four-year terms. The information in the resolution regarding how to return to staggered terms (see page 4, number 6 of the resolution) is based on legal interpretation of Session Law 2013-110 and how the Board previously transitioned to staggered terms. The resolution was approved by the Board 8-0. Use this link to access the resolution.

On Thursday, I visited Cary Elementary School and was able to observe students participating in an United Arts Artists in Schools Event-Mosaic Math Workshop led by Artist Jeannette Brossart . The students learned and shared information about mosaics, arrays, tesserae, tessellation, fractions, area, perimeter and more! They were able to create their own mosaics on a computer. A huge thank you to Mrs. Schmitt for providing such a welcoming classroom environment. Later on Thursday, I attended the Finals of the 4A NCHSAA States Swim Meet. It was exciting to see all the fast swimming, cheering, and swimmers breaking records. Congratulations to the 4A Runner-Ups for Women's Swimming and Diving-Green Hope High School and the 4A State Champions for Men's Swimming and Diving-Green Hope High School! On Saturday, I will be attending the Kingswood Elementary School Beautification Day. This week as a Board, we had one meeting: Facilities Committee Meeting. At the Wednesday, February 9th Fac...
